Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary

St. Louis Maria De Montfort's Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary from his treatise on True Devotion to Mary is an important spiritual exercise that has brought immense transformation to the lives of significant number of people, including the Saints and Popes. The 33 days preparation to this powerful consecration introduces one who undertakes it to an ardent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. St. Pope John Paul II affirmed that the reading of the True Devotion to Mary was the decisive turning point in his life.

After completing the 33 days of prayers and spiritual readings in preparation for the consecration, the faithful who participated in the exercise would make his/her consecration on one of the feast days of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Below are some of the start dates and the consecration dates suggested for the preparatory period and the consecration day.

After completing the 33 days spiritual journey, the participants would undertake the consecration by reading out the Act of Consecration in front of the statue of Our Lady in the Church, at the Grotto of Our Lady or in front of the altar in one's home, holding a lighted candle and, if possible, wearing a white dress, at least on the upper part of the body.

It is suggested that we print out the Act of Consecration on a white paper. We would fill in our names in the position provided for that. We would sign the Act of Consecration and fill in the date in the sections provided for those. Afterwards, we would keep the signed Act of Consecration to be use during our annual renewal of our consecration to Jesus through Mary. The annual renewal is expected to be on the same dates used for the initial consecration.
