About Our Lady of Good Remedy
Our Lady of Good Remedy is a title for the Virgin Mary rooted in the 12th-century efforts of St. John of Matha, founder of the Trinitarians, to ransom Christians enslaved by Moors. Faced with a lack of funds, the order prayed to Mary, who miraculously provided resources to free thousands of captives.
In 1198, St. John of Matha founded the Trinitarians to rescue enslaved Christians. Due to the desperate need for funds, they turned to Mary as their "good remedy" (source of help).
The name Our Lady of the Good Remedy signifies that Mary is a source of healing, help, and relief from spiritual, physical, and financial distress.
She is frequently depicted handing a bag of money or a purse to St. John of Matha, symbolizing her role in providing the ransom money. The devotion spread from Europe to Latin America, with a feast day celebrated on October 8.
She is invoked as a patroness for those in any form of "slavery," including addictions, financial ruin, or severe personal difficulties.
The Order of the Holy Trinity (Trinitarians) has honoured her as their patroness for over 800 years.

O QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, Most Holy Virgin, I venerate thee. Thou art the beloved Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity. O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to me. I depend on thee, Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.

O LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, grant that I may draw from thy treasury of graces in my time of need. Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the lost and the hopeless; especially the youth of Canada.

DEAR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy for every affliction I encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession to find a remedy for my needs, especially for my fundraising efforts as I prepare to serve Christ by bringing the Gospel to the people that needs it.
On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more careful observance of the laws of God and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world.
